Holding The Strings is a conceptual artwork by Josh DG, created as part of CONXEPTZ — a collection exploring ideas around the mind, mental health and the human experience through art.

The piece depicts a person reaching above themselves and holding the strings connected to their own mind. It plays with the idea of control: the relationship between the person experiencing their thoughts and the mind producing, interpreting and reacting to the world around them.

Rather than giving the image one fixed meaning, the artwork is intended to sit alongside the same questions explored in Josh DG’s writing — how much control do we have over our minds, what influences the way we think and feel, and what changes when we begin to understand what’s happening internally?
